The Tucson has been a beloved model in the Hyundai world since 2004. The third generation of the vehicle hit the market in 2016, and consumers couldn’t get enough of it. Hyundai plans to release a new version of the Tucson in 2023, and we anticipate that it’ll impress us even more. We’ve summarized everything you need to know about this upcoming model so that you can get as excited about it as we are.

Exterior

The current version, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, has a bold exterior that stands out from other compact SUVs. Some of its most notable exterior features include flared wheel arches and clear-cut body lines. It also has a bold grille that pairs with accent lighting and thin headlights that illuminate any path you take. On the 2022 Tucson’s backside, you’ll find an LED light bar and slanted tail lights. While nothing is for sure, we expect the 2023 Tucson’s exterior to have similar aesthetics. In the meantime, you can browse our inventory to get a feel for the visuals.

Engine and Performance

It’s likely that the 2023 Tucson will offer three new or improved powertrain configurations: hybrid, gasoline, and plug-in hybrid. The trim levels that incorporate a gasoline engine will likely use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine provides impressive performance with 178 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque. These numbers ensure a smooth driving performance and comfortable acceleration. It’s also likely to come with an eight-speed automatic transmission that will take all the work out of changing gears.

If you opt for a trim level that offers the hybrid engine, you can get access to a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine is slightly more powerful, as it provides 229 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It’ll likely come with a continuously variable automatic transmission for optimal performance.

While there isn’t much information on the plug-in hybrid versions, we do know that they’ll also feature a 1.6-liter engine. These Tucson trim levels will use both a gasoline engine and an electric motor to power the SUV. This will reduce gas consumption, increase efficiency, and decrease negative environmental impacts.

It’s likely that the gasoline version will have a front-wheel-drive powertrain as standard with the option of an all-wheel-drive system. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid models will likely have all-wheel-drive systems by default. The 2023 Tucson with a front-wheel-drive powertrain will likely have satisfactory fuel efficiency, and you can expect to get around 26 miles per gallon if you stick to city driving. When you move to strictly highway driving, the fuel efficiency goes up to around 33 mpg.

Interior Features

One of the most exciting things about the new Tucson is its inclusion of Hyundai’s Digital Key. This app allows drivers to connect their smartphone so that they can use it in place of traditional car keys. Drivers will be able to unlock and lock their Tucson using just their phones so that they don’t have to worry about misplacing their keys.

The vehicle will also have a “Car to Home” feature that lets drivers control certain elements of their home from their vehicle. For instance, a driver can turn on their home’s heating system while they’re in their Tucson so that they can arrive at a warm house.

If you want a car that can help you relax on a long journey, the 2023 Tucson may be right for you. It has ample legroom in both the front and second rows, so you can enjoy the ride as a front or backseat passenger. Behind the rear seats, you’ll find nearly 40 cubic feet of cargo space. This is plenty of room that you can use to store your camping gear or any other equipment and supplies you want to take with you on the go.

Some of the other interior features of the 2023 Tucson that we can’t forget to mention include a full-width HVAC vent for adequate air distribution, a stylish four-horizontal-spoke steering wheel, and a mood-lighting system that can project more than 60 different colors.

Infotainment System

The 2023 Tucson will likely come with a standard 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system in all its trim levels. You may have the option to upgrade to a larger 10.25-inch screen in various trim levels. This larger screen produces more enhanced visuals, but the 8-inch screen is more than satisfactory for viewing the commands you want to execute.

You can use the 2023 Tucson’s infotainment system to play music, pull up directions to your next stop, and listen to podcasts. The system is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, meaning you and your passengers can connect most mobile devices. This vehicle has paired the infotainment system with a digital information cluster that sits behind your steering wheel. Here, you can view important driving statistics like your current speed and rpm, without having to divert your eyes from the open road in front of you.

Safety Features

Hyundai has always prioritized safety, and it won’t make any exceptions with the 2023 Tucson. It will include the Hyundai SmartSense system that will provide several important safety features. Some of these include blind-spot monitoring to help with lane changes and driver attention alerts that can detect drowsiness or other signs of inattention. Other features in the SmartSense system include lane-following assistance, remote smart parking, 360-degree cameras, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. It’s unclear which safety features will come standard and which will be optional, but time will tell.

Price

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 2022 Tucson starts at $24,950 for the entry-level trim. The 2022 Tucson’s price can climb up to $36,100 for the more premium Limited trim level. Other trim levels for the 2022 Tucson fall between the $24,950 and $36,100 price range. While there isn’t any concrete data for the price of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson yet, it’s reasonable to assume this range will remain somewhat consistent. There may be slight price increases to account for some of the upgrades that the 2023 model has.
