Beginner’s Guide to DIY Fall Car Maintenance

September 25th, 2018 by

Looking to learn a little more about how to care for your car on your own? DIY car maintenance might be a little more approachable than you think. Start with this guide to fall car care that you can tackle even as a beginner.

Wiper Blades

Changing your vehicle’s wiper blades is an easy task that can make a huge difference in visibility and safety during rainy fall days. All you need is a new pair of blades from your local auto parts store. From there you can follow a quick instructional guide—or just use your intuition—to remove the old and replace them with the new.

Look Under the Hood

If you want to get to know your vehicle better, grab your owner’s manual and pop up the hood. The owner’s manual will help you identify parts and get you familiar with what’s what. In the process, you can look for any signs of corrosion, leaks, or cracks that might have occurred over the summer.

Replace Fluids

As you look under the hood, you can also locate where the different fluids are situated and check their levels. Look to see that the oil, the steering fluid, the wiper fluid, the brake fluid, and the transmission fluid are all at the proper level.
