Hyundai continues elevating industry standards, delivering high-quality vehicles with style, must-have tech, and performance. Nothing captures that essence better than Hyundai N and N Line vehicles. The N represents the first letter in Namyang, Hyundai’s global research and development center, where high-performance models are born. It also represents the first letter in Nürburgring, the legendary race track where Hyundai tests all its performance vehicles.

Hyundai recognized a segment of drivers who craved a more thrilling driving experience and realized they could provide that throughout its lineup. So, they took standard trims, outfitted them with unique styles, and equipped them with performance upgrades.

As a result, N and N Line models have more power, improved handling agility, and premium tires to deliver the invigorating performance drivers sought. And Hyundai didn’t sacrifice elsewhere, providing a balance between superior performance and comfort, safety, and in-vehicle technology.

Performance and Power

Hyundai currently makes the N and N Line trims for the KONA, TUCSON, ELANTRA, and SONATA models. The 2024 KONA N Line models replace the standard 147 horsepower 2.0-liter engine with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with gasoline direct injection.

You also get an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of the standard intelligent variable transmission. As a result, this KONA N Line powertrain produces 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.

The 2023 KONA N and ELANTRA N models feature a 2.0-liter flat-power turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. Other performance enhancements include an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and an N Corner Carving Differential system along with Launch Control, N Power Shift, and N Grin Shift technologies.

2024 KONA N Line trims will have a 195 horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. In addition, the 2024 ELANTRA N Line models will have a 1.6-liter turbo-four that produces 201 horsepower.

The TUCSON N Line boasts a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with gasoline direct injection and multiport fuel injection technology. This engine has 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.

Hyundai makes the 2023 SONATA N Line with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder with continuously variable valve timing technology. Hyundai pairs this engine with its eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. As a result, this powertrain puts out an impressive 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.

Hyundai adds significant race-inspired style and equipment to its N and N Line models. For example, the KONA N and ELANTRA N vehicles have twin-tipped exhaust systems and customizable drive modes with crackle-and-pop exhaust notes.

The TUCSON N Line features a more aggressive front and rear fascia, 19-inch N Line alloy wheels, N Line combination sports seats, and N Line badging inside and out.

ELANTRA and SONATA N and N Line models add trim-exclusive front fascias and exterior badging, adding sporty style and performance. A SONATA N Line Night trim has a blacked-out look highlighted with dark chrome badging, a carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, 19-inch matte black alloy wheels with carbon fiber center caps, and red brake calipers.

Sport-Tuned Suspension

Hyundai N Line models have a sport-tuned suspension system that uses MacPherson struts with coil springs on the front and a multilink independent system on the rear.

N models such as the ELANTRA and KONA have track-ready enhancements, including front and rear stabilizer bars, chassis braces, and a launch control system. These trims also feature electronically controlled suspension systems that actively adjust damping to smooth out your drive.

Hyundai also incorporates its N Corner Carving Differential system, an electronic limited-slip differential system that distributes torque to the wheels, enhancing traction and control as you carve your favorite corners.

Advanced Technology

Most Hyundai N and N Line models have a 10.25-inch touch screen with built-in navigation to operate your infotainment system. However, the 2024 KONA N Line will have a larger 12.3-inch screen. These infotainment systems have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and Dynamic Voice Recognition systems.

In addition, you’ll enjoy the convenience of wireless charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot to keep you connected and charged on every drive. You also get a complimentary subscription for up to three years of Hyundai’s Bluelink Connected Car Service.
