Hyundai Flying Car

November 25th, 2019 by

Hyundai has already conquered nearly every road with its lineup of cars and SUVs — and now, as the automaker pushes the envelope with new technologies, it looks like the sky will be next.

Thanks to the company’s recently announced Urban Air Mobility Division, a Hyundai flying car could eventually take to the air.

Hyundai will be the first major automaker to create a division for this sector of vehicle development. There’s a lot of talent behind the initiative as well, with Dr. Jaiwon Shin, the former leader of the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate at NASA, serving as the head of this new division.

“Having worked on cutting-edge aviation research and development at NASA for 30 years, I am very excited and humbled by the opportunity to now shape urban air mobility strategy at Hyundai Motor Group,” Dr. Shin said.

The flying car initiative is part of a focus on “mega-urbanization” at Hyundai. As more and more people move into cities, Hyundai is looking for ways to make commuting easier and more efficient in bustling metropolises.

Here at Hiley Hyundai of Fort Worth, we can’t wait to hear more about this exciting new initiative. And if you’re looking for a vehicle that’s a little more down to earth, we’ll be happy to help you out.
