Introducing The 2022 Santa Cruz
The all-new Hyundai Santa Cruz is the first-ever four-door truck produced by Hyundai. This exciting new vehicle is half SUV and half pickup truck with nothing else like it on the automotive market. Its SUV proportions combined with its truck utility make it the perfect vehicle for weekend adventures. Hyundai has truly outdone themselves, and there’s no doubt that you will love the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Exterior Design and Trim Levels
The bold exterior design of the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz is like nothing you have ever seen before. With no reference for comparison, it is a whole new vehicle with a unique take on what a truck/SUV appearance should look like. The overall theme of the Santa Cruz is that of a modern aesthetic with futuristic Hyundai wheels, a sleek profile, and practical size.
Its flowing lines, soft curves, and creased side panels evoke a sense of motion even when the Santa Cruz is sitting still. A large front grille, small truck bed, and modern lighting give the finishing touches to what is to be one of the most iconic Hyundai vehicles ever produced. You can have the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz in the SE, SEL, SEL Premium, and Limited trim levels. Every trim level of the Santa Cruz comes with open-bed utility and versatility, premium comfort, and modern tech.

Power and Performance
There are two available engines for the 2022 Santa Cruz. The first is a 2.5-liter inline-four with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque available in the SE and SEL trim levels. The second is a 2.5-liter turbo-four with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque available in the SEL Premium and Limited trim levels. Both engines are more than capable of propelling the Santa Cruz around town or at highway speeds, but the 2.5-liter turbo-four is more suited for off-road adventure than the base 2.5-liter inline-four.
The SE and SEL trim levels of the Santa Cruz come standard with front-wheel-drive, but all-wheel-drive is available. The SEL Premium and Limited trim levels of the Santa Cruz come standard with all-wheel drive. The Santa Cruz all-wheel-drive system is complex, with a center locking differential that evenly splits the engine’s torque between the rear and front axles for uphill or slippery conditions.
With the center locking differential deactivated, the system will automatically adjust torque between the Santa Cruz’s axles depending on drive modes and conditions. When using the sport driving mode, 50% of the engine’s torque is sent to the rear wheels, where brake-based torque vectoring routes the torque again to the rear wheel with the most grip. When cruising in the Santa Cruz, the torque mainly powers the front wheels for better efficiency.
The Santa Cruz has 8.6-inches of ground clearance for traversing moderate off-road trails such as fire or logging roads. It also has a breakover angle of 18.6 degrees, an approach angle of 17.5-degrees, and a final departure angle of 23.2 degrees. Unfortunately, with all of this off-road capability, the Santa Cruz does lack a two-speed transfer case found in true off-road vehicles.
Hyundai outfitted the Santa Cruz with self-leveling rear suspension that senses the vehicle load, raising and stiffening up the rear when the truck bed is loaded down with cargo. In addition, the Santa Cruz has a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multilink rear suspension that combines to give the Santa Cruz an exciting driving experience. Overall, the Santa Cruz has sporty handling and the smooth ride of a crossover. The Santa Cruz’s bed can carry a maximum payload of up to 1,411 pounds.
When equipped with front-wheel drive and the 2.5-liter inline-four, the Santa Cruz can tow up to 3,500 pounds, but this increases to 5,000 pounds when the 2.5-liter turbo-four and all-wheel-drive. It also comes standard with trailer sway control and automatically applies brakes when trailer sway is detected.
The interior design of the Santa Cruz is more SUV than truck and boasts a dual-cockpit design. Every aspect of the Santa Cruz’s interior is modern and sophisticated. In addition, it has many available features that you are sure to love, such as:
