Introducing The All-New 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid | Hiley Hyundai
The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is a mid-sized sedan that’s sure to attract buyers who prioritize fuel efficiency. The Sonata Hybrid was fully redesigned in 2020, so we’re not expecting major changes for the 2023 model year. A few new paint colors may be available. Here at Hiley Hyundai of Fort Worth, we want to help you get to know the Sonata Hybrid a bit better and how it compares to the gas-powered Sonata. 2023 Sonata Hybrid Engine and Performance
The Sonata Hybrid’s power train consists of a 2-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that combine to produce 192 horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission takes care of gear changes. This power train achieves excellent fuel economy, including 50 mpg in the city and 54 mpg on the highway.
The gas-powered Sonata’s base engine generates almost the same output as the hybrid: 191 horsepower. However, the gas-powered Sonata offers you two optional engine upgrades. The first is a turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 180 horsepower. The second is a larger turbocharged four-cylinder available in the high-powered N Line trim, which can churn out 290 horsepower. Fuel economy is significantly lower, coming in at 27 mpg on city roads and 37 mpg on the highway with the base engine.
Sonata Hybrid Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The 2023 Sonata Hybrid’s interior follows the dimensions of the gas-powered Sonata quite closely. Both vehicles offer seating for up to five people, with enough room for adults to sit comfortably in the rear row. Both vehicles have two sets of LATCH connectors to install child seating in the second row.
The trunk can hold up to 16 cubic feet of cargo, which is enough for large grocery purchases. If you need to carry larger objects, you can take advantage of the Sonata Hybrid’s split-folding rear seats to open up more cargo space.
Infotainment and Safety Features
The infotainment system in the Sonata Hybrid is accessible through an 8-inch display and six-speaker stereo. A range of standard connectivity features is included, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a USB port.
Hyundai BlueLink also comes standard. BlueLink allows you to control certain features of your car from an app on your phone. For example, you can activate remote start or lock your vehicle through your app. You can also use the app to locate your Sonata Hybrid in case you’ve forgotten where you parked.
Several useful entertainment upgrades are on offer. You can get a larger 10.25-inch display, a premium 12-speaker stereo, and wireless device charging. Voice recognition and a navigation system are two other optional add-ons.
In addition to its entertainment options, the Sonata Hybrid boasts a long list of standard safety technology. The forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking systems can help you avoid accidents and bring your vehicle to a swift stop.
On the highway, the lane-keep assist and lane departure warning features can help you stay on the right track, while adaptive cruise control can automatically adjust your speed. The driver attention monitor can alert you that it’s time to take a break if you’re losing concentration, while the rear seat reminder warns you to check the back seat for kids or pets before you exit the vehicle.
The Sonata Hybrid’s higher trims offer several optional safety features. These include a surround-view parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The remote parking assist feature allows you to pull your Sonata Hybrid into or out of a parking spot with the key fob while you stand outside the vehicle.
Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Trims
The Sonata Hybrid offers three trims: Blue, SEL, and Limited. The gas-powered Sonata offers a few more trim options, which include the SE, SEL, SEL Plus, N Line, and Limited. Another difference between the Sonata Hybrid and the gas-powered Sonata is the price. The base price for the gas-powered Sonata is approximately $24,500, while the Sonata Hybrid has an MSRP of just over $27,000.
The Sonata Hybrid Blue trim features cloth upholstery and manually adjustable front seats in the cabin. In addition, you get proximity keyless entry and automatic climate control.
The SEL trim could be the one to go for if you like a touch more comfort in the cabin. It features heated front seats with power adjustments, a premium stereo, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The range-topping Limited is worth going for if you’re looking for pure luxury. It adds leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an armrest for the middle of the rear row. The Limited trim also adds many optional safety features, such as a surround-view parking camera and remote parking assist.
The biggest difference from the gas-powered Sonata trims is that the Sonata Hybrid does not have any trims with engine upgrades. The N Line trim, for example, equips the Sonata with a 290-horsepower turbocharged engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On top of that, the N Line features a choice of driving modes and front sports seats that provide more support and have suede finishings. With the Night Edition package, you can add some unique dark styling elements to the N Line.
We hope that our exploration of what the 2023 Sonata Hybrid offers has helped you decide whether it’s the vehicle for you. If you’re looking for a sedan with a roomy trunk and excellent fuel economy, the Sonata Hybrid should be at the top of your list. The versatility of its three trims allows you to choose a basic cabin design or add some luxuries, such as leather and heated seats.
