Kona and Kona Electric Nominated for Utility Vehicle of the Year Award
The Hyundai Kona and Kona Electric CUV were recently named finalists for the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award. This prestigious award is only given to the top crossovers and SUVs on the market, and this is also the first time Hyundai has had a vehicle nominated in the Utility category. While the winner won’t be announced until January at the North American International Auto Show, it’s an honor just to be nominated.
According to Hyundai, the jury for the award is actually made up of analysts and journalists from around the U.S. and Canada. The group has been rating vehicles since 1994, which means it’s one of the top awards around. Significantly, both the Kona and the Kona Electric are built on all-new CUV platforms, which means this is the first time Hyundai has shown anything like these two vehicles.
“Kona is an affordable, stylish and functional compact CUV, tailored to the needs of customers who pursue active lifestyles of all kinds,” said Mike O’Brien, a VP at Hyundai. “It’s setting new standards for its segment, with appealing design, cutting-edge connectivity and class-leading available safety features.”
The Kona is specifically built to offer versatility and enhanced driving dynamics, and the Kona Electric comes with an impressive 258-mile range and standard fast-charging capabilities.
