Local Parks Events For The Entire Family In Fort Worth, TX

Are you in the Fort Worth, Texas, area and looking for fun outdoor activities the whole family will enjoy this Spring? If so, look no further than your local city and state parks. Whether you’re looking to get immersed in another culture, pick up some nature knowledge, or pump the adrenaline with carnival rides, you can find it all within a short distance of Fort Worth. So check out these exciting events we’ve assembled for you over at Hiley Hyundai of Fort Worth.

Spring Japanese Festival

The Spring Japanese Festival will allow you and your children to take in some Japanese culture while appreciating the beauty of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. There’ll be authentic Japanese food and several Asian food trucks and vendors selling different crafts. The event will also feature various demonstrations and performances, including origami, calligraphy, Taiko drumming, karate, and even a master swordsman. And, of course, it would not be the botanic garden without beautiful plants, so you can expect to see a marvelous display of bonsai trees.

  • Hours: April 22-23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Admission cost:
    • Advance/online: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (65 and older), $6 for children aged 6-15, and free for children aged 5 and under.
    • On the day: $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (65 and older), $9 for children aged 6-15, and free for children aged 5 and under.

Nature Con

Nature Con will bring out the nature enthusiast in kids and adults alike. There’ll be adventures galore with guided hikes and paddling, bison-feeding hayrides, arts and crafts, delicious food trucks, and tons of education booths. If you miss it, don’t be too sad since the Center is always holding events. These include canoe and kayak tours (they even have a night paddle at the beginning of each month), animal and plant walks, and nature sketching.

  • Hours: April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Admission cost: $6 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for children, and, if you want to bring your furry family members along, $1 for dogs.

Grapevine Lake Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games

Whether you’d like to connect with your Celtic heritage or think it will be fun to listen to good music and watch athletes in kilts hurling stones and logs, the Grapevine Lake Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games will surely entertain the whole family. There’ll be plenty of food and artisan vendors, and the competitors will be competing in nine different traditional events. Don’t miss the Calling of the Clans Fire Ceremony the night before the main event.

  • Hours:
    • The Calling of the Clans Fire Ceremony is on April 21 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    • The Heritage Festival and Highland Games are on April 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Admission cost: $5 for those 12 and over; children under 12 get in free.

Mayfest

With seven performance stages, a plethora of vendors, a carnival area, a children’s zone full of free activities, rock climbing, paddle boats, a petting zoo, and pony rides, you’ll run out of energy long before your family runs out of things to do at this four-day festival. Trinity Park is also home to Dream Park, a massive inclusive playground unveiled in 2019.

    • 2401 University Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
  • Hours: May 4-7.
  • Admission cost:
    • Free on Thursday.
    • $12 for adults (13 and over), $7 for children (3-12) and seniors (60 and older), and free for toddlers 2 and under on Friday through Sunday.
    • If you plan to drive, parking is $15.

Texas Outdoor Family

If you’re a family of aspiring outdoor enthusiasts, look no further than the Texas Outdoor Family weekend workshop to get away and experience an introduction to camping life. With all the basic camping gear provided, the whole family will be ready to learn how to set up a tent, build a fire, and leave no trace whenever you’re out in the woods. You’ll also get to participate in other fun activities, such as outdoor art and geocaching. Check out the welcome packet for a packing list and meal ideas to prepare you for camp.

  • Location: Cleburne State Park

  • Hours: May 12 from 6:30 p.m. through to May 14 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Admission cost: $95 for a family of up to 6.

Art at the Park

At Bedford’s first-ever Art at the Park festival, you and your family can join others in a giant community art project. Your aspiring Picassos and Khalos will have the time of their lives, but you can also expect to find all sorts of other fun. With live music and performances, food trucks, art vendors, and more, this event is worth visiting.

  •  Hours: May 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Admission cost: Admission is free.

WatugaFest

Take advantage of another beautiful spring festival, complete with an actual carnival. It has all the fixings of a great festival: music and entertainment, vendors, food, and games, just to name a few. And, while you’re there, you can take full advantage of the park’s splash pad, newly built in 2021 and opening for the season on May 6.

  • Hours: May 18-21.
  • Admission cost: Admission is free.
