The Amber Room is an upscale speakeasy and craft cocktail lounge inside of Wishbone & Flynt, a family-friendly Fort Worth eatery. Guests may enter The Amber Room through either of two entrances: a gold door embellished with several doorknobs and handles near the restaurant bar or an unmarked wooden door on Bryant Avenue. Once inside, you’ll find lounge chairs, exposed brick walls, and jewel-toned draperies that combine to create a romantic vibe perfect for a Valentine’s Day celebration. Enjoy the full bar, which features craft cocktails, draft beer, and shareable plates from the Wishbone & Flynt kitchen.
Admittance to the Amber Room is granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and reservations aren’t accepted. That said, if it’s at capacity when you arrive, consider dining at Wishbone & Flynt and trying again after your meal.
Fort Worth Water Gardens
After a romantic dinner, take some time to visit the Fort Worth Water Gardens, a quiet oasis adjacent to the Fort Worth Convention Center. This engineering marvel sits on the southern edge of downtown and features three pools of water: the aerating, the quiet, and the active pools.
While a visit to any of the water features makes for a great romantic excursion, don’t miss the quiet pool for Valentine’s Day. Encircled by cypress trees, the pool’s waterfalls create a calming sound reminiscent of a gentle rain shower. It’s a good place to enjoy each other’s company and relax for a little while. The Water Gardens are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and are free to enter.
Omni Las Colinas Hotel
Omni Las Colinas Hotel is arguably one of the most romantic locations in the DFW area. Its waterfront location on the shores of Lake Caroline provides the hotel with exceptional views and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. For a one-of-a-kind experience, reserve a gondola and explore the hotel grounds by way of the Mandalay Canal, a waterway reminiscent of those in Venice, Italy. If you’d like a more adventurous Valentine’s Day celebration, rent stand-up paddleboards and explore the canal that way.
For assistance with romantic requests, contact the hotel’s concierge. They can help you with things such as reserving late checkouts and having a bottle of wine and a gourmet dessert delivered to your room. If you’re planning a truly extraordinary Valentine’s Day, note that the Omni Las Colinas hosts weddings on its grounds.
Hotel ZaZa
Hotel ZaZa is a luxury hotel located in Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood. Choose from several types of accommodations, including The Magnificent Seven Suites, a seven-suite collection featuring themed decor, candlelight turn-down service, and an abundance of space. For an impressive amount of privacy and even more space than the suites, opt for one of Hotel ZaZa’s bungalows. The bungalows are located in a 1930s historic home on a tree-lined street adjacent to the main hotel. For cozier accommodations, reserve a guest room where you’ll enjoy a variety of luxury bath amenities, complimentary internet, a mini-refrigerator filled with gourmet snacks, and more.
Dine at the Dragonfly, an upscale eatery located inside Hotel ZaZa, during your stay. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Dragonfly serves traditional American classics. It’s open from 6:30 a.m. to midnight daily, and it accepts reservations.
Bowl and Barrel
If you’d like to plan a memorable Valentine’s Day celebration, check out the Bowl and Barrel, an upscale bowling alley and eatery. You’ll enjoy an elegant atmosphere, technologically advanced bowling equipment, and comfortable seating. Have dinner or enjoy a snack while you bowl, and choose from items such as stuffed mushrooms, club sandwiches, and Caesar salads. For dessert, try a funnel cake or some cotton candy. If you’d like a drink, the beer menu features over 15 types of beer, and the wine and cocktail menus are extensive as well.
The Bowl and Barrel is located at 8084 Park Lane inside the Shops at Park Lane across the street from the Northpark Shopping Center. Plenty of parking is available at street level and in the shopping center’s parking garage. Walk-ins are welcome at the Bowl and Barrel, but reservations are recommended, especially around Valentine’s Day when more people are likely to visit the establishment.
Fort Worth Botanic Garden
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden features outdoor gardens, several exhibitions, a gift shop, and a cafe. Located in the heart of Fort Worth’s Cultural District, it spans over 110 acres, so plan to stay for a few hours if you’d like to see everything. As the oldest botanic garden in Texas, the site is home to over 2,500 plant species and 14 specialty gardens.
All 14 specialty gardens are worth a visit, but if your time is limited, make sure to explore the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, and the Rainforest Conservatory, three of the garden’s most popular exhibits. The Japanese Garden consists of 7.5 acres filled with cherry trees, bamboo, bridges, and koi ponds, while the Rose Garden is on the National Register of Historic Places and features stone pathways, several varieties of roses, and a reflecting pool. At 10,000 square feet, the Rainforest Conservatory is home to two waterfalls, several types of orchids, and a nationally recognized begonia collection.
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden’s winter schedule is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and the price of admission is $12 for adults ages 16-64 and $10 for adults age 65 and older.
