Guanajuato Bakery
Guanajuato Bakery opened in 2005 and has been serving handmade goods to residents and visitors of Fort Worth ever since. When you walk in, you’ll immediately notice the delicious smell of sweet treats. Three Best Rated called it one of the top three bakeries in Fort Worth in 2021, and Restaurant Guru recommended it in 2020. Try the chino de queso, which is vanilla bread filled with cream cheese and topped with pecans. You can also choose pineapple or mango empanadas, donuts, cookies, or quesadillas.
The Mexican rice pudding has cinnamon and raisins, and custom cakes are available for special occasions. This place is also great for getting a quick breakfast before work. It’s open on most days from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and it closes at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Day, it’s open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Swiss Pastry Shop

The Swiss Pastry Shop is famous for its black forest cake. It’s also called uncake because it’s unlike any other cake, and it’s made with egg whites, crushed almonds, and pure cane sugar. It has crisp layers of meringue, gourmet chocolate shavings, and sweetened whipped cream. The owner and head baker is Hans Peter Muller, and his father owned the store before him. All bakery items are made fresh and available all day.
Try the double chocolate raspberry, strawberry torte, chocolate mousse, red velvet, banana, carrot, or Italian cream cake. Many pies are available before Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can order lemon, key lime, coconut, chocolate mousse, apple, cherry, peach, pecan, pumpkin, or banana pies. The apple strudel and dinner rolls are excellent as well. Other options include brownies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pound cake, cheesecake, decorated sugar cookies, and Texas turnovers with jalapeno, ham, or cream cheese. You can visit from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Stir Crazy Baked Goods
Stir Crazy Baked Goods opened in 2012 and has recently opened a second location. This bakery offers a variety of vegan and gluten-free options and can accommodate people with dairy and nut allergies. It also avoids artificial colors, chemical additives, and preservatives.
Popular items include chocolate cream pie, chocolate eclairs, lavender cupcakes, coffee cakes, and scones. Lots of seasonal and year-round options are available. In fall and winter, you can get apple cider, brown sugar sage, mint chocolate, mint buttercream, gingerbread, white chocolate cranberry, spiced chocolate, or cinnamon buttercream cakes or cupcakes. Cranberry orange, pear nutmeg, pumpkin chocolate chip, and pumpkin raisin muffins and scones are available.
You can also choose from several quiche flavors, including asparagus dill, broccoli cheddar, three-cheese herb, Southwest pepper jack, tomato basil parmesan, mushroom cheddar thyme, cheese and onion, and potato rosemary. The vegan sausage rolls, classic cinnamon rolls, and chocolate bourbon pecan pie are especially popular. Many more flavors are available, and this place makes beautifully decorated custom cakes. It’s open from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Blue Bonnet Bakery
Blue Bonnet Bakery has been open since 1934, and it makes traditional, quality products from scratch every day. Its current location is a former church, and bestselling items include petit fours, buttery monkey bread, double fudge cake, pecan pies, Texas fudge cakes, fruit pies, carrot cakes, Italian cream cakes, cream puffs, eclairs, cupcakes, and cookies.
The bakers can make beautiful custom cakes based on a photo, a toy, or an invitation. If you aren’t in the mood for cake, Blue Bonnet Bakery also has great pastries and bread. Make sure to try the apricot, cinnamon, raspberry, cream cheese, or honey pecan sweet rolls. You can also choose cranberry orange nut bread, sausage rolls with cheese and jalapenos, or a coffee cake filled with apples and topped with pecans and cream cheese. Gingerbread cookies and houses are popular during the holidays. You can visit on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any baked goods that aren’t sold by the end of the day are donated to the First Street Methodist Mission.
Esperanza’s Restaurant & Bakery
Esperanza’s is a traditional Mexican eatery named after the owner’s daughter. In addition to a menu filled with family recipes for traditional Mexican dishes, Esperanza’s is also known for their baked goods. This family business opened in 1935, and it received the James Beard Foundation award for Excellence. You can try tres leches, flan, sopapillas, Mexican sweet bread, or churros.
If you’re wanting a full meal, you can try an omelet, pork chops with two eggs, or oatmeal from their all-day breakfast menu. For lunch or dinner, you can choose options like burritos, enchiladas, and gorditas. The location on Main Street is open every day from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the one on Park Place is open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m and offers a separate dinner menu. On Friday and Saturday, the Park Place location closes at 10 p.m., and on Sunday it closes at 7 p.m.
Loft22 Cakes & Pastries
At Loft22, you can find stunning cakes for any occasion in flavors including: red velvet, lemon, carrot, tres leches, pineapple upside down, strawberry, Italian cream, German chocolate, blackberry cream, orange sherbet, maple bacon, pina colada, and peanut butter. This bakery can also create any custom flavor and cake design you want. Try the mint chocolate chip cake with white chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream or the classic dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate buttercream and whipped chocolate mousse.
Many creative cake designs are available. The Toilet Paper Quarantine Cake looks just like a roll of toilet paper, and the Reindeer Cake is a Christmas carrot cake with trail mix, cream cheese filling, and pretzels on top that look a lot like antlers.
