The 2022 Santa Cruz has all the towing capacity of a pickup truck in the form of a sleek sports adventure vehicle. Its smaller proportions and versatile cargo bed also make it stand out in Hyundai’s 2022 lineup. This front-wheel-drive crossover can do plenty of things that a full-size pickup truck can do and more. In this guide, we’ll take a look at the towing capacity of the Santa Cruz and see how it compares to Hyundai’s other popular new models. How Much Can the 2022 Santa Cruz Tow?  2022 Santa Cruz

Whether you need to haul construction supplies for your next big project, an ATV, or a bunch of mountain bikes, the 2022 Santa Cruz can get you to where you want to be. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine generates 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque and has an impressive towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

This rugged small pickup can also tow up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, all while offering all-wheel drive. The extra power makes towing bigger boats, trailers, pop-up campers, motorcycles, and even light cars easy. It may surprise you at just how much the Santa Cruz is able to tow. If you’re planning a camping trip, the Santa Cruz is the perfect vehicle to carry all of your supplies.

Despite its small size, the Santa Cruz has a big 118.3-inch wheelbase, enabling it to have even more towing stability than similar models. The longer wheelbase also ensures the ride is smooth and comfortable, even at higher speeds. The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with available all-wheel drive also helps give it the extra push needed to tug heavy loads over rougher terrain.

Thanks to its powerful towing capacity, the Santa Cruz is at the top of the list of Hyundai vehicles that are able to tow despite its smaller platform and more diminutive design. The small pickup can also tow more than any other compact crossover from the previous year, making it an especially attractive option for those who desire a durable off-road vehicle that still has a lot of strength.

2022 Santa Cruz vs. 2022 Palisade Towing Capacity

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is also at the top of the Hyundai lineup when it comes to towing. This three-row SUV is both highly practical and very upscale, and it offers many desirable features. All trims are equipped with a powerful standard 3.8-liter V-6 engine that pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission to produce 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. It also comes standard with four-wheel drive. Without the trailer brakes, the Palisade has a towing capacity of up to 1,650 pounds.

When fully equipped with the trailering package, the Palisade is able to tow up to 5,000 pounds, matching the Santa Cruz’s impressive capacity. Like the Santa Cruz, the Palisade also contains a variety of trailering technologies that help make towing as simple and smooth as possible. These include Trailer Sway Control, Vehicle Stability Management and Downhill Brake Control, which helps assist the driver when navigating a steep hill. Drive Mode Select also makes it easy to shift between drive modes to enhance your performance on the road.

2022 Santa Cruz vs. 2022 Santa Fe Towing Capacity

Despite lacking the off-road capabilities of the Santa Cruz, the 2022 Santa Fe still has impressive towing capabilities, excellent interior features, and a reliable fuel economy. The optional 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. When equipped with trailer brakes, the Santa Fe is able to tow 3,500 pounds, plenty for carrying around a decent-size trailer or heavy equipment.

It’s also able to tow up to 2,000 pounds with the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. In addition to the two engine options and the trailering package, the Santa Fe also contains several useful towing features like Trailer Sway Control, similar to the Santa Cruz and the Palisade. These features make it easier to tow smaller boats, trailers, and other items around the Fort Worth area with ease.

2022 Santa Cruz vs. 2022 Tuscon Towing Capacity

The 2022 Tuscon also offers impressive towing capabilities. Despite not quite matching the Santa Cruz, the Tuscon can still tow up to 2,000 pounds with trailer brakes. This year, it gets a new, more efficient 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that generates 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Without the trailer brakes, the Tuscon also enjoys a tow capacity of 1,650 pounds. Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control and Brake Assist also helps ensure the ride is stable and smooth. The excellent maneuvering and braking power make it easy to navigate rougher terrain, just like with the Santa Cruz.

2022 Santa Cruz vs. 2022 Kona Towing Capacity

Like the Santa Cruz and the Palisade, the Kona has the ability to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped with trailer brakes. It has two engine options: a 2-liter inline four-cylinder producing 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque and a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 195 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.

The stylish SUV can tow small and medium-sized trailers and boats, however, Hyundai generally doesn’t recommend using the SUV specifically for daily towing, unlike the Santa Cruz.

2022 Santa Cruz vs 2022 Ioniq 5 Towing Capacity

The Ioniq 5 has a towing capacity of 1,650 pounds, an especially impressive feat for an electric compact crossover. Though not nearly as powerful as the Santa Cruz, it’s still possible to easily haul smaller trailers, boats, and equipment. The standard range battery pairs with a single electric motor to generate 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the dual motor option generates 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque for an even more powerful performance.

The 2022 Santa Cruz certainly has an impressive towing capacity, especially compared with other vehicles in Hyundai’s lineup.
