What Are the 2021 Hyundai Hybrid Models?

2021 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid/Plug-in Hybrid

The 2021 Hyundai Ioniq has a huge focus on efficiency. The Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid come with a 1.6-liter inline-four engine and six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.  The Plug-In Hybrid motor output is 156 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque; in the hybrid version, the output goes down to 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. The Ioniq comes with an excellent EPA fuel-economy rating, especially on the highway: The regular Hybrid gets up to 60 mpg on the highway, and the Plug-In Hybrid gets up to 52 mpg.

The estimated starting price of the plug-in is $26,500, and the fully electric version will start around $33,000.

Interior and Tech

 The Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid has a super-attractive interior and a wide range of driver assistance and infotainment features. Hyundai has taken an eco-friendly approach to the cabin design, where they have used sustainable materials like sugar cane and volcanic rock composites for the interior.  It comes with dual automatic temperature settings, which makes it very user-friendly. Various features like an auto defogging system and the tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel both make for a solidly comfortable driving experience. 

The infotainment system is on par with any luxurious car. It offers several features like an 8-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and higher trim levels also offer navigation features.

Safety

The Ioniq Hybrid got top ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, making it a highly reliable car for the whole family. This hatchback comes with several driver-assistance mechanisms to make the driving experience less stressful, and the higher-level trims have Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection sensors,.

 To cut a long story short, the Ioniq Hybrid does a good job of getting you where you want both affordably and safely.

2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

If you are looking for a combination of style and technology, the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is the one for you. This sleek model comes with a 2-liter inline-four engine coupled to an electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission. It offers up 192 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. When you’re on the highway, you can get up to 54 mpg.

This car also gives you immense value for money. With three available trim levels, the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid price ranges start from  $27,750 to $35,300. 

Interior and Tech

Overall, it has a beautiful interior with a very premium feel, keeping it in line with the classic Hyundai ergonomics. Oftentimes, hybrids have smaller trunk space due to their larger batteries. But in the 2021 Sonata Hybrid, you still get plenty of trunk space because they fit the battery underneath the rear seat, allowing for a 16-cubic-foot trunk. 

The Sonata Hybrid’s standard infotainment system boasts several features like an 8-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six speakers, and more.

The mid-level SEL trim has heated front row seats, a premium Bose speaker system, and a Digital Key to go with it. The Limited trim comes with extra bells and whistles like a heated steering wheel and leather upholstery.

Safety

As far as safety is concerned, 2021 Sonata Hybrid models have many features like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and many more. The Limited trim comes with additional rear automatic emergency braking with an enhanced blind-spot monitoring system that monitors both sides of the vehicle through a rear-facing camera.

2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid

Much like the Ioniq, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid comes with a 1.6-liter inline-four engine and six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Elantra Hybrid’s output is 43 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. You can get up to 56 mpg on the highway with this one.

It is available in two trim levels — SEL and Limited. The SEL trim starts at $23,550, whereas the Limited trim is available starting at $28,100. 

Interior and Tech

This hybrid car’s interior is inspired by an airplane’s cockpit, and the company itself describes it as an “immersive cocoon.” To help give you that ambience, the both the driver and front passenger get heated and ventilated seats. The tech amenities include a hands-free trunk release, Qi wireless phone charging, Bluetooth connectivity, along with the Blue Link telematics system, and the Hyundai Digital Key or a remote key.

The infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. You also get an eight-speaker Bose sound system even in the base SEL trim. The Limited adds on a 10.30-inch touch screen and leather upholstery.

Safety 

With Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Pedestrian Detection, the Elantra Hybrid is a good choice in this segment. Other features like Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, along with Advanced dual front airbags and driver and front passenger side-impact airbags, make it very reliable.

The Elantra Hybrid has rear multi-link suspension that makes the ride feel much more planted and smooth over bumpy roads. If you drive the regular Elantra and hybrid one after the other, you will notice hybrid has a better sense of control.
